Marie Claire SA got tongues wagging this year with its controversial Kate Middleton cover, in which the Duchess of Cambridge is shown “wearing” a multi-print dress by SA designer Clive Rundle.
"We were so inspired by her fairytale wedding and her life as a modern-day princess, which is why we elected Kate Middleton as our cover star for the August issue,” explained the magazine’s editor Aspasia Karras about their choice of cover girl.
“The cover is actually a hyper-real illustration of Kate, meant to be a fan art tribute to fashion's new royal icon." But not everyone was impressed with the cover, with some crying foul at the use of Photoshop to paste the Princess’s head on the body of the magazine’s copy-editor, who modeled five different dresses by SA designers. No word from the Palace.
