Kerry Heathfield breaks down the biggest spring trends for shoes - from toe-cap pumps, to strappy sandals, to printed wedges...
Are you pumped for spring? The best thing about change of season besides the actual weather is shopping the new trends. This spring has some new and old but modernised trends to try from head to toe.
Toe caps are a classic adornment for flats, but this spring they have been given a fresh new look. Pastels, metallics and neons have been incorporated for a modern toe-cap pump. Everything you need to be spring trendy in a comfy, cute shoe! (Main picture: toe-cap pumps, Luella, R599)
Flat sandals are a go-to for warm weather; they're easy to wear and are usually comfortable. Two-strap sandals are what you want to opt for this season for a minimalistic and chic look. As the name suggests, these sandals have two straps – one on the ankle and one around the toes. (Below: strappy sandals, Diligo.co.za, R315)
Prints aren't going anywhere, they are just changing slightly. Everything from platform heels and wedges to flats and slip-ons will be adorned in colourful and unique prints. This is what makes spring fun – being able to go bold and playful. (Below: printed T-bar wedges, Mr Price, R139,99)
This season's flatforms are a lot less “Spice Girls” and a lot more chic. This is an easy shoe to wear and while they may not be everyone's choice; once you see what is on offer, you may just change your mind. (Below: Robyn colour block flatform, Madison, R320)
Trendsetters finally decided to give the feet a break from killer heels and give the ladies some much needed midi time. This spring there is really no need to wear nine inch heels because not only will stores be stocked with many choices of the midi heel, but they will also be bang on-trend. As you watch the transformation of cold, dull days to bright, sunny days, you will see the new trends setting in.
