It’s ridiculous that fuller figured women still carry a lot of shame about their bodies. Although we can safely put some of the blame on factors beyond our control like the images we see on TV and in the magazines we buy, the rest of the blame must be laid right on our doorsteps. The time has come to change the way we think of ourselves. Block out the negative and celebrate your body. Here are 5 ways to do this.
Flood your life with images that make you feel positive about your body
Are you still spending your hard earned cash on magazines where you never women who look like you? Forgive yourself. Think of it as a man who is generally good to you but always praises your friends on the way they look but forgets to compliment you. You would kick him to the curb wouldn’t you? Invest your time and money on images that make you feel good.
Speak to your body with a positive voice
Ultimately, the voice that is always with you is your own. Train it to only say positive things about your body. Even if you start off not entirely convinced your subconscious will catch up eventually. Every time you see your reflection, smile secretly and acknowledge the beauty that looks back at you.
Be realistic about your size
Clothing size is only relevant as a reference. It is an international language that we use to figure out what will fit you, nothing more. Most sales people want to see you leave with clothing that looks good on you. Give them the correct size so that they can help you. In the long term buying clothes that are too small is self-sabotage. Think of it as trying to pour 2liters of water in a 1liter bottle. It doesn’t make sense.
Teach people how to perceive your body
There are some people who make a sport of making fun of curvy people. Take a step back and see them for the insecure people they are. A content, fulfilled person sees others’ beauty. Family members and good friends are included. They may think that they have your best interest at heart. Be compassionate and educate them. If this doesn’t work, pull out the zinger that helps them understand that you don’t find them that perfect either.
Never put your life on hold because of your weight
No more excuses for not putting yourself out there. Everybody gets their heart broken at some point: It is called living! In fact, the more it happens the easier it is to get through. Bad relationships happen to everybody.
Curvy women take the steps to own your bodies and take back your power. It is up to us to teach people how to think about us.
